Saxoncourt Group and Shane English Schools founder, Shane Lipscombe had the pleasure to have the Prince of Wales, HRH Prince Charles, visit the Nanteos Mansion Country House Hotel owned by the Saxoncourt Group.
A National Trust Reward Ceremony was held at the Hotel featuring Prime Cymru who organise adult training in Wales and are part of the Prince’s Trust, and the Cambrian Mountain Initiative (CMI) who promote agriculture in the area. Prince Charles is patron of the CMI and Nanteos is an ambassador for the group.
His Royal Highness met Shane Lipscombe, his wife Carol and his daughter Angelina. He was presented with Nanteos teddy bears for Prince George and Princess Charlotte. The future king was even given some of our very own honey to enjoy.
Shane enjoyed his time taking Prince Charles and guests on a professional tour around the Mansion. The Prince was pleasant and lively, and had many questions about the surroundings in the Mansion. By all accounts Shane performed his role as host admirably.

Shane English School Taiwan successfully held two ‘Open House’ events in Taipei at the TuCheng branch (30th May) and Roosevelt branch (31st May). The purpose of these events was to reach the new target audience (both parents and children) to generate interest in our courses. Those who attended experienced a 40-minute demo lesson.
Our Academic Team designed two types of demo lessons for the Open House event: a SPEC (Shane Primary English Course) demo lesson and an EFL demo lesson. The main points of the demo lessons were:
• To show the parents that Shane English School is a highly trusted brand which recruits 100% qualified English teachers with international teaching certificates.
• To allow parents to observe how teachers conduct lessons and interact with children.
• To motivate children and demonstrate that learning English is different from their previous learning experience. We showed them that learning English is really fun by using many learner-centred teaching activities and methods.
• To allow parents to enroll their children on a suitable course at Shane English School Taiwan.
About 40 children attended the demo lessons and the feedback from the parents was extremely positive. Most importantly of all, 95% of the attendees registered with the schools afterwards.
Based on this successful experience, the Open House event will be held on the 6th, 13th and 27th June at other DTE branches.
On May 2nd, Shane English School Taiwan opened a brand new branch in Lin Ya, Kaohsiung, in the southern part of the country. “KS4” is the first of eight new schools which will open in Taiwan this year.
It has been a long journey for KS4, given that the school had to open a whole year after signing their contract. This was due to a serious explosion which damaged the Kaohsiung Lin Ya area last year.
The area is now back on its feet, and with the help of our other Shane schools in Kaohsiung, and support from parents, the opening ceremony was a resounding success, and the demonstration class was full of fun and laughs.
We sincerely wish KS4 owner, David and the rest of his team the best of luck with their new venture! We are sure that, as with our other schools in Kaohsiung, they will soon develop an excellent reputation for teaching quality in the local area.

Vanessa Huang, School Manager of our ‘Chang Long’ school at Shane English School Taiwan, was given an award by Shane Lipscombe for Best Performance of the Year 2014 in recognition of her truly great contribution to the school since she became its School Manager in July 2014.
During a 30-min interview with Shane, Vanessa said: “It is the whole team’s effort – not just myself. I am happy to have such a tremendous team to work with.”
We would like to thank all our team members in Chang Long School and our other schools for their continued hard work in continuing to provide a great service to Shane students. Thank you all!
Shane English School Taiwan organised a three day winter camp in February and invited kids to step away from their touchscreens and computers to make new friends. The camp was held in a lovely farm which was home to ostriches, goats, rabbits, dogs, and lots of plants and flowers.
The courses included lots of group-work activities, English classes, and DIY events to train students how to work as a team and collaborate with team members. They were divided into five large teams and played exciting games where they all had to work together in order to beat the other groups.
We also had great bonfire party and enjoyed dancing and singing, which many found to be the most exciting part of the camp!
The 3-day camp was tiring, yet exhilarating, and students learned how to be independent and to take care of themselves without their parents. They gained lots of friends and experiences which will stay with them for a lifetime.
Students and teachers had a great time this Christmas at Shane English School Beijing, and even their families joined in the festivities!
Groups were divided according to age range: 3 – 5 year olds joined the Baby Group, 6 – 9 year olds joined the Childrens’ Group, and those over 10 years old joined the Youth Group. Our hardworking teachers brought out the games they had prepared, and families enjoyed well-known games such as “Pass the Parcel”, and lesser-known games such as “Santa Dress-Up Relay”…
Songs such as “The Twelve Days of Christmas” were also sung.
The kids all joined our Christmas lottery and got party packs, after which, it was photo-time!
Along with all the teachers involved, organisers Andrew and Emma deserve a pat on the back for a thoroughly successful day.
Throughout December Shane students from around China took part in a traditional British pastime, while at the same time raising money to help a good cause.
Students from our Shanghai schools got creative in the run up to Christmas and submitted designs for traditional Christmas cards. The winning entries were then turned into a professionally-produced set of six cards, which were then sold to Shane students and parents in our franchises across China, so students could wish all their friends a Merry Christmas, while helping our annual Yunnan charity project.
All proceeds from the cards went directly to helping some of the most needy students in China. After raising a considerable amount to rebuild schools in the aftermath of the 2013 Yunnan earthquake, Shane English School China continued to support these schools and the hundreds of students affected by providing new classrooms and sports equipment.
SESC would like to extend its thanks to all students who submitted designs, and of course to everyone who took part by buying and sending Shane’s own Christmas cards. Your continued efforts are greatly appreciated.
